The Noticer

Okay, so I'm still trying to get a feel for this whole blogging thing. Our house is pretty busy during the week....well really all the time with 4 little ones. However, I do try to find the time to read, and right now I am probably reading one of the best books I have read in a very long time. Seriously!!!! Probably even better than the Twilight Saga, and for those of you who know me....knows that is a very BIG DEAL!....Because I love me some Twilight. It might have something to do with the fact, that this book is about REAL life! Anyway, back to my point....the book I'm just in love with at the moment is titled "The Noticer" by Andy Andrews. EVERYONE needs to read this book....EVERYONE could learn something about themselves and others by reading this book. It's all about perspective and how you CHOOSE to look at life and the circumstances that surround you. One of my favorite passages from the book is when Jones (this genius of man) is having a conversation with Andy (one of the many people he mentors to during this book) it goes a little something like this....
"Why does everyone think that when people say that 'God will put a person after HIS own heart where HE wants him to be'....that it means God will put them on a mountaintop or in a big house or at the front of the line?
"Think with me here....everybody wants to be on the mountaintop, but if you'll remember, mountaintops are rocky and cold. There is no growth on the top of a mountain. Sure, the view is great, but what's a view for? A view just gives us a glimpse of our next destination-our next target. But, to hit that target, we must come off the mountain, go through the valley, and begin to climb the next slope. It is in the valley that we slog through the lush grass and rich soil, learning and becoming what enables us to summit life's next peak. So, my contention is that you are right where you are supposed to be."

What I took from that is exactly this....there will be moments of great highs in life and moments of plunging lows. It is during these low times of turmoil, life struggles, hardship, moments of despair, hopelessness and uncertainty that you grow closer to God. I honestly believe that God will never bring you to it....if he can't get you through it! So, as you go to bed tonight think about the following....(from the mouth of Jones) "I say to you that as you lay your head down tonight, you are sleeping on fertile ground. Think, learn, pray, plan, dream. For soon....you will become."

If anyone is needing a little hope in their life....or possibly a new perspective....this book is for you! With the world we live in today....I think we could all use an extra helping of HOPE! Oh, and for all you country music fans....or possibly just Carrie Underwood fans....her new song "Temporary Home" is just awesome. I'm just lovin' it! I would post a link for everyone to listen to it on you tube, but I haven't figured out how to do that yet!(Sigh....)Like I said, please be patient with me....I'll figure it out! I hope everyone is having a great week! Goodnight!
